It is allowed to use artificial intelligence as a help in writing assignments and research.
The University of Oslo has created a new service - GPT UiO - which is in accordance with European privacy legislation.
Everyone with an @himolde.no account has free access through Feide out 2023.
What is GPT UiO?
GPT UiO is a UiO-developed service that allows you to use OpenAI's GPT models within the requirements of privacy.
Students and staff can log in with FEIDE and freely use the service. All data is stored on UiO's servers and your name is not disclosed.
GPT UiO can be used in teaching and research with personal data up to yellow data.
"Artificial intelligence (AI) is a tool that both teachers, researchers, students and administrative staff can benefit from in their work. UiO wants to facilitate this in a privacy-friendly manner. Therefore, UiO is launching its own GPT solution, which allows students and staff to use OpenAI's GPT models in a way that ensures control over their own data and complies with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for UiO's activities."
