I am Effery Anderson Mzumbwe. I am 34 years old and from Sumbawanga  in Rukwa Region in Tanzania. I am a teacher at Mkamba primary school, and a student in special education at Patandi Teachers College in Arusha. This Autumn I take part in the Norec project in Molde.

For me, cooperating in sports has been a way to learn about the situation for people with disabilities and become aware of the human rights. It has also been a way to know students in Molde. I loved the trip to Kringstadbukta with other exchange students. The trip to a climbing wall in Eide with my partners was challenging and fun. Outdoor activities and sports has been a place to exchange ideas about education and especially related to children with disabilities.
When I have finished my study of special seeds education, I will try to change things at my working place. The school can be a place to learn about human rights and learn how to stop discriminating people with disabilities. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 2, says that all children have the rights laid out in the convention. Children and young people should not be discriminated, however, children with disabilities are currently being discriminated in my country.
Personally, I am studying to become an expert of special needs education and in UN Rights. I will be an agent of change in my workplace, and in Sumbawanga district. I will work to educate people about human rights, and support parents of children with disabilities to send their child to school, in order to improve the quality standard of life. I want to contribute to a change in mindset of people in society, to stop discrimination of persons with disabilities.
When I come home, to the school where I work, I will ask the education officer’s permission to run seminars and village meetings in the whole district about the UN Rights for persons with disabilities. I will try to involve people with disabilities in these seminars. I will facilitate and try my best to let persons with disabilities have a say in these seminars, about their feelings, their situation and needs.
