"Greening the last mile: learnings from Oslo Living Lab"

Abstract:

Oslo is one of Europe’s fastest growing cities and is planning to cut CO2 emissions by 95 % by 2030. The City’s forthcoming Climate Strategy identifies city logistics as an important policy area for reduced emissions. Within the LEAD project, the Oslo Living Lab (LL) aims at promoting within city logistics, the use of electric propelled vehicles and crowdshipping services with the intent of increasing urban delivery efficiency and reducing negative externalities (emissions and noise). The value case focuses on delivering large items from commercial furniture stores. NIMBER ships these items after consolidating them in a micro-hub. Starting from the micro-hub, bringers distribute goods abiding by end customers’ preferences for time windows and flexibility. This paper discusses the main results obtained from the real life tests, together with the learning and recommendations for further implementations.
